Yesterday, I went to  meet with a dear friend in Old Town Manassas Virginia for lunch. It was a rainy brisk fall day here in Virginia. My friend suggested we lunch at the City Square Cafe. It was a charming neighborhood restaurant with a very friendly staff and a quiet atmosphere. We both ordered their signature sandwich which was a Ham Sandwich with apple slices and Swiss cheese on a whole grain bread served with fries. Yum! If you haven't been there, they have a very nice menu check it out here

Now it was time to walk around and explore what Old Town Manassas Virginia had to offer in the way of shopping. We were immediately drawn into the shop photographed below, just because of the window dressings.  The polar bears snow scene is something you would see in a New York Macy's window during the holidays. Gorgeous!This place oozes charm! It's called  Allyssa Bryn, Home Interiors & Gifts

Once inside it got even better!  This is the perfect place to find all those gifts you need for your girlfriends and co-workers. You can even book a  Day Spa visit, get you hair done, shop for Silver Jewelry, Vera Bradley,Shoes, Sweaters, Scarves and fashion jewelry. It is a wonder boutique store. In the back is another shop where you can find soaps, baby clothes, have even have things mono-gramed. There are so many unique one of kind impulse items. You know the kind of store I'm talking about. The kind that fills you up at every turn.

Next we headed over to the Opera House Gifts & Gourmet. Now this is a gorgeous shop! Everything from wines, to find chocolates, glassware, bar items,awesome hostess gifts and unique one of kind items you would love to give or receive. The wine selection is extensive.Trust me on this one.

 

 

 

As we walk we happened upon the window that said Coffee-Expresso-Pastries and Cakes no one had to twist our arms. In we went. The shop was called Persnickety Cakes .  I don't know about you, however there is something wonderful about being able to order a cup cake. It gives me a chance to try something I have never had for a very small investment. I tried, a Red Velvet cup cake, and my friend had a Peanut Butter Cup Cake, both were delicious. Each cupcake was $1.89. They do special orders and cakes as well. If you haven't been to Old Town Manassas Virginia lately, there is no better time.

As I was driving yesterday, this place caught my eye. That goodness for iPhones at stop lights. Yes you read that right it says "DOG WASH!" If you own a big dog, you know one of the biggest hassles is giving them a bath. Not any longer! Nathan's Dairy Bar is Now Open For The Season!

Manassas, Virginia residents really know it is spring when Nathan's Dairy Bar opens for business. Although my husband and I live in Lake Ridge Virginia, we prefer to head to Manassas where we can stop into a local restaurant without the crush of the Potomac Mills Mall tourist crowd.  We typically will eat at Tony's Pizza or my new favorite place to eat Bella Vita  on Liberia Avenue in Manassas Virginia.  Then after that, we head to Nathan's Dairy Bar. Nathan's has the best soft serve I've ever tasted.

Mine is Black Raspberry! My husband's is Pumpkin. ( yes Pumpkin Ice Cream)

Meadowbrook Woods is a hidden gem of a community off the beaten path of Hoadly Rd and Rt 234 in what we all in the business affectionately refer to as Middle County in Prince William County, Virginia. It happens to be one of my favorite communities in the Manassas Virginia area. For me it's because of the wide streets, the pristine feel of the community, the setbacks on the homes are all different, and there is a perfect amount of tree's. Every time I drive through Meadowbrook Woods I am struck by the pristine front yards and pride of ownership the owners of Meadowbrook Woods Homeowners.Most people I take into Meadowbrook Woods love the community.

 

  

All the homes are built on half acre lots backing to tree's.   Homes prices range between  the low $400,000 range up to $600,000. Meadowbrooks Woods Subdivision is a home owners association community and there is a community pool with a competative swin team called the Makos. So it is a great community if you are looking for a place where the children can walk to the pool and meet up at the bus stop and ride t he bus to school with all the neighbor kids.  Another unique thing about Meadowbrook Woodsis the rumor of community Flamingo Parties. On occasion in the summer months  driving through the neighborhood on a Friday evening you may notice a huge Pink Flamingo in someones yard. That means the neighbors are welcome to drop in. Most of the time it's pot luck (so bring a dish!)and the host serves the beverages. The kids all play, the adults gather on the deck or patio to visit. Then everyone goes home. This community is serviced by Osbourn Park High Schoolin Manassas, Marstell Middle and Beville Elementary School. It has easy access to Rt 234 which turns into the Prince William County Parkway about 2 miles to the West. Commuting to Gainesville, Haymarket, Loundon County is easy from this location. It's also has fairly easy access to Hoadly Rd and the Prince William Parkway heading to I-95.
