Imagine my surprise yesterday when I was on Facebook and I saw our faces come across the news feed. Turns out we were featured in Realtor Magazine.
Ok, I paused for a minute and thought. What? How did that happen?
Seriously Patty Blackwelder have been busy, very busy this year. We haven't had much social time to chit chat. LOL!
Turns out that Mary Beth Klatt a freelance writer for REALTOR Magazine found Patty Blackwelder here on Active Rain.Patty wrote a blog titled Blogging on Active Rain Worked for Me in Only Six Short Months. and that peaked Mary Beth enough that she called Patty to learn more.

Entering real estate on your own can be intimidating. Take the edge off by teaming up with another agent who can show you the ropes.
For any of you who are new. Don't be afraid to align yourself with a mentor agent. My motto is this "Less is more!" Top Producing agents have systems in place, they know how to get business, and they know how to take a buyer or seller from contract to closing with ease. Yes, you may only get a portion of the real estate commission, however you are not taking the financial risks. You will make more money in the long run simply by doing multiple transaction. Where if you were totally on your own the learning curve is immerse. Team up with a mentor agent and after a year or two you will have wings to fly solo and do awesome!
For those who are thinking of forming a team. Re branding from an individual agent status to a team was not as difficult as I imagined it would be. It just took a little thought and a planning. In Mary Beth's article she referred to our billboard. We utilized an electronic billboard in a new Town Center in our primary selling area to cement the Brand Name Twins Selling Real Estate. The cost was two thousand dollars over a 15 month period of time. Thousands of people saw that billboard weekly.We then started a Facebook Page and Website and focused on boosting posts with the brand name and answering the phone! For us going to appointments together really worked well. Consumers love the fact they get two agents for the price of one! One year and counting and business is awesome!
